| OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2023 | 11 June is the gateway to summer. e beauty of that day was almost staggering. Aer a wet spring everything that could be green had outdone itself in greenness and everything that could even dream of blooming was in bloom and blossom. e sunlight was a benediction. e breezes were so caressingly so and intimate. ~ Don Simmons June is the month of freshness, joy, happiness and wishes and desires. If born in June, you were born on the cusp of spring and summer. June babies are outgoing and friendly, and charismatic. They easily draw everyone's attention making them attractive both inside and out. If you were born in June, the world is a better place because of you. Your library has some news items that members may want to know. At our last Board meeting several concerns were presented. The first is the lack of shelves for all our needs. Therefore, the Board voted to make some changes. James Patterson's books are now housed behind the counter where the Coffee Table books used to be. We will no longer be accepting cookbooks, travel, art or sports books, as we are clearing those shelves to make way for the regular library books such as those by James Patterson. He is one of the most popular authors that we house in the library. If there are other popular authors that you cannot locate, we suggest you check the shelves where the Patterson books are kept. Other popular authors will be shelved there as shelf space allows. We wish to thank those generous individuals who donated the Coffee Table books. We suggest that you donate them to other worthy charities. We have simply run out of room at this point. We may, in the future, be adding some shelves where space will allow. We have a new plan for tracking what the most popular authors are and how many of their books are checked out. This will help us prioritize where to place them. We thank you for your understanding. Finally, I want to recommend e Rose Code by Kate Quinn. It is historical fiction that my book club is currently reading. It is a World War II story involving three young girls from very different walks of life who are picked to break the German's secret codes, and help bring about the end of the war. It is an unforgettable war story but also a tale of friendship, fortitude, and forgiveness. It melds spy-hunting with love stories that stir the soul. It is a gripping and beautifully executed novel.
