26 | OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2023 | Music Lovers Hello music-loving friends here at OHCC. It's June and the weather is turning warmer and sunnier. We're looking forward to having more musical treats for you outdoors and working with other clubs to have more music at their events too. Coffee House Mondays are a hit and when we can, we'll be out on the Patio to allow more to sit and enjoy the music and treats between 9:30 and 11 am. Thanks to our members who have volunteered to help with coffee extras and treats at the bar. Due to scheduling changes, we couldn't feature our two newest entertainers in April. But Sheri McMurray performed on May 22 and Donna Russell is slotted for June 12. These two wonderful pianists will entertain you and bring a smile to your face for sure. In June, here's the lineup for all Music Lovers Club performances. Mark your calendars. Remember Coffee House Mondays and the Villagers Concert are open to all residents and their guests. As the warmer weather allows, bring chairs and shade to the Palm Court Events. Coffee House Mondays: 9:30 to 11:30 am June 5: Jazz Lite: Mike, Debbie and Howard June 12: Donna Russell on Piano June 19: Twin Pics: Mike and Rick June 26: Brad Davidson: Acoustic Guitar Villagers Concert: June 16, Palm Court, 4 to 6 pm General Meeting: June 8, Mykonos Room, 6 to 8 pm We'll be having an Ice Cream Social that evening along with Karaoke for club members. We have canceled our plans for the Musical Variety Show since it occurs on the Jewish Holiday of Yom Kippur on Sept. 24 and 25. It'll be rescheduled for early next year so we're still recruiting acts in hopes of having our line-up ready in the fall. However, we're planning something special for our club on those evenings in September, so be on the lookout for that news. Off-site Music: June 13 is our trip to Del Mar and the Mainly Mozart show for our members. Tickets must be purchased by June 1st so contact Mary Stoneman King asap. They are $30 each. Carpools are forming and we'll need drivers. Parking is $12. The May trip to the Museum of Making Music was rescheduled due to a problem with notification of our full membership. That's it for now. I'm so happy to say that the community has embraced the music and the fun of our club and we're always thinking of other venues and ways to bring more music to OHCC. If you are a member of another club and would like to find out more about how Music Lovers and your club can work together on an event, contact Debbie Cea. Stay tuned for more news. ~ D. Cea
