| OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2023 | 7 As we all know, speed limits and stop signs are implemented to ensure our safety on the road. However, it's not uncommon to see drivers disregarding these important rules of the road. I'm asking to have you join me to make a positive change in driving habits. By doing so, we'll not only be safer drivers, but we'll also be setting a good example for others. We'll be contributing to a culture of safe driving, and we'll be helping to prevent accidents and save lives. I know that it can be tempting to speed up a little or roll through a stop sign when we're in a hurry or running late. But it's important to remember that taking a few extra seconds to obey the rules of the road is a small price to pay for the safety of ourselves and others. So, let's make a conscious effort to follow the speed limits and stop signs. Let's take pride in our community by being responsible and respectful drivers. And let's make the roads safer for everyone. On another note, my goal as Community Patrol Director is to be transparent in our enforcement of the rules set forth by the Board, which is why I will start including a summary of violations, penalties, and any significant security concerns that have occurred in the previous month. Last month we had 118 garage doors left open. Garage doors, for aesthetic and security reasons, shall be kept closed or to within 18 inches of the floor, except during periods of time when someone is in the garage or doing yard work, loading, or unloading vehicles, or accessing tools or equipment. We have also seen a significant increase in stop sign violations, with 17 documented incidents that resulted in a citation. A complete stop is defined as a vehicle traveling at a speed of zero. Rolling stops or "California stops" are not permitted and will result in a citation. We have also seen over 30 unauthorized parking violations at the Clubhouse lot this month. The Clubhouse lot is for the use of residents and pre-approved contractors only. The only exception would be for vehicles with handicapped placards from the rearview mirror or indicated on the license plate. I encourage all residents who enjoy walking on our beautiful property to stay in the pedestrian lanes. According to the rulebook, no vehicles, including bicycles, mopeds, motor scooters, and golf carts are permitted to drive continuously in the pedestrian lane. Also, if you are walking after dark, I highly recommend investing in a reflective vest or clothing. This is just another way to keep yourself safe on the roads. You can purchase them online or at the Clubhouse. If you have a concern that you would like to be raised in another issue of OHCC Living magazine, contact me via email or by phone. My office at the front gate is always open for residents of Ocean Hills Country Club. ~ Josh Robinson, Director of Community Patrol Services, Joshua.Robinson@securitasinc.com, (760) 758-7111 ext. 250 or (760) 505-2146 Community Patrol Services
