42 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2023 Country Line Dancing Do you love county music? We are having a FREE line dance party on Saturday, June 10, from 4:30 to 8:30 pm in The Lodge Ballroom. Everyone is invited to enjoy the music and dance or to just watch. Spend an evening out with friends, family, and neighbors. Bring your dinner and favorite beverage. You will be sure to have a fun evening. We have learned many new dances this year. New dances challenge out brains as well as our feet. Although many steps we know are used in new dances, they are in a different order. That makes us concentrate more. You would laugh (as we do) at the mistakes we make trying to learn a new dances. Often, if we do one step that we know well, our brains want our feet to do the next step that we already know. We work hard to teach our brains a new dance pattern. For most of us, it takes at least three weeks to really know a new dance. Of course, some are harder than others and some of us need more lessons to feel confident with a new dance. Any member of our class can bring a new dance to either teach or have us learn and teach it. It is all fun and great exercise. I am looking for someone new to teach the Tuesday Line Dance Class. Although I still love to dance, I have decided to retire at the end of the year. After teaching dance for 13 years here, I have other interests I want to pursue. If you have any interest in teaching, or have questions, please contact me. The dancers in this class are wonderful, friendly, and love to just dance. They are also very good dancers. Hope to see you on the dance floor. ~ Martha Franck, marthafranck@icloud.com, (714) 345-8588 Let's Dance! Heart & Soul Line Dance Do you enjoy dancing? Heart and Soul Line Dancing is in Da House! See you on the dance floor! ~ Priscilla Robles This month we will learn Mambo and SALSA! Mambo is a Latin Dance from Cuba which was developed in the 1940s when the music genre of the same name became popular throughout Latin America. Salsa is a direct descendant of Mambo. At the end of the 1950s, a slowed down and syncopated version of Mambo – the Cha-Cha (which we learned last month) became very popular. Since we learned the Cha-Cha last month, we can incorporate many of the same moves into these dances. In countries where Mambo/Salsa is prevalent, it is known as a "social" or "nightclub" dance. It also can be danced at ballroom competitions. It plays with the idea of "street" dance versus "ballroom." Our dancers at Let's Dance!come to class to learn for social reasons, to celebrate a life event, or just to go out and dance! Come and join us! We meet in The Lodge Ballroom every Monday evening with FREE open practice and review from 6 to 6:30 pm. Beginner class is from 6:30 to 7 pm with intermediate class from 7 to 8 pm. The cost is only $10 per person for professional instruction, and you are welcome to stay for the entire session. For more information, please contact Brian Fusilier at (909) 215- 2778 or Lisa Johnson at (714) 322-8877. See you on the dance floor! ~ Lisa Johnson
