FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2023 63 Yes, we needed the rain, but the downside is that our motorcycles were just collecting dust for most of the winter and into early spring. So, it was with great anticipation that we were finally able to not only get back on the road, but set out on our long-awaited four-day ride to the central coast. We departed on May 7. Five club members (Terry Humble, Jim Ayala, Joe Bert, Scott Snyder, and Bonnie Pollett) met up at The Lodge parking lot and at 9 am we were on the road for Kernville, our first day's destination. By the way, it was nice having Janet Humble (Terry's better half ) joining us on the trip as Terry's passenger. The weather was a cool 52 degrees when we departed and slowly warmed up to about 68 by the time we rolled into Kernville. Actually, with proper layering, it was just about perfect weather for riding. Our route to Kernville took us through Wrightwood and Mojave, eventually hooking up with the 395 and then smooth sailing all the way into Kernville. We rolled into town at 3:30 pm and by 6 pm we were enjoying a very tasty dinner at a new Mexican restaurant that was only a short walk from the motel. All in all, it was a perfect day. As mentioned above, May 7 was the first day of the trip. The sixth of the month is the deadline for submitting articles for the Breeze so, in next month's Breeze we will have lots to say about days two, three and four. For now, here's a projection off what was slated to happen. On day two, we will leave Kernville heading to San Simeon. Basically, we will work our way to Paso Robles and then head for Cambria and then up the coast to San Simeon. On day three, we will head down the coast to Jalama Beach by way of Morro Bay, Pismo Beach, and Lompoc. After lunch at Jalama Beach, we will head inland to Solvang for the night. On day four, we will make our way to Ojai and then head home by way of Santa Clarita, Pearblossom, and Apple Valley. In total, this will be about a 950 mile ride. Spread out over four days, this should make for some very relaxing and enjoyable miles on the road. The Four Seasons Motorcycle Club goes on a ride every Thursday (weather permitting) and these rides never disappoint but nothing compares to our multi-day rides. It just doesn't get any better than meeting up for breakfast before hitting the road, settling into the hotel after a fun day of riding, meeting up for dinner, and then doing it all over again the next day. In other words, it's all about friends who share a passion for motorcycling and enjoying a few days together on the road. ~ Jim Ayala Motorcycle Club Heading out on a four-day central coast ride.
