The first place team was Bob Semler and Dave Martin. The second place team was Verina Rector and Mike Fisher. Our next quarterly tournament will be coming up in June. To qualify for tournament play you need to have played three times in the quarter. Anyone interested in playing with our fun group can join us on Tuesdays. The first session is 11 am to 1 pm. The second session is 1 to 3 pm. We welcome and look forward to seeing you! ~ Paul Snyder, (909) 214-9464 Billiards for Fun TOPS Controlling what you eat at home is easier than eating at a party, at someone else's house or at a restaurant where it is hard to know how food is cooked or what is available on a menu. At our meeting, we discussed the three Rs when dining out: Remove, Reduce, and Replace. Some tips for dining out are: • Plan to eat at the restaurant at the usual meal time. • Review the menu online and plan your healthy substitutions. • Don't skip meals before going to save calories, because your chances of overeating will be greater. • Eat a light snack to curb your hunger (a piece of fruit, cheese stick, or veggies). • Look for a special section marked "lighter" or "healthier" choices on the menu. • Ask for substitutions. Instead of fried chicken ask for grilled. • Choose whole grain choices such as brown rice, quinoa, bulgar, or whole grain pasta or bread. • Order dressing on the side and dip a fork in dressing first and then in the salad. • At a buffet, start with soup or salad. • Drink water, club soda, no-sugar iced tea, or diet drinks. Wine, light beer, or plain liquor is lower in calories than sweet alcoholic drinks. • Of course, sharing or to-go boxes are a must in this age of huge portions. Later, after our discussion, we used The Bistro menus to plan a healthy meal. That was a lot of fun. You may find that a group like TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) can help you as well. We meet on Tuesday at 8:30 am in the Ballroom.
