Your landscaping should present an attractive appearance for your
property. Every front yard measuring at least 300 square feet must
have at least one tree. When purchasing your tree, check the growth
specifications. How tall can it grow? Is it a flowering tree? Is it
recommended for our climate/clay dirt? Is it a fast growing tree? Are
the roots invasive? There are many choices of trees for you to consider.
For the homeowners who have maturing trees, consider options
for pruning. Improper pruning can cause the tree to die. Severe
pruning of healthy branches will cause excessive succulent branch
growth, resulting in an unattractive "lollipop" shape. Thinning the
branches will help preserve the health of the tree. Some mature
trees are damaging walkways, driveways, and fences. If your tree is
damaging your neighbor's property, you may be responsible. This
could mean the removal of the tree, as well as correction to damages
of a neighboring property. Continuous maintenance should always
be on your mind to assist with a worst-case scenario in the future.
The General Manager sent a code compliance memo to those
signed up for eBlast referring to rear yard maintenance. It stated that
some residents tend to believe, "it's the rear yard, so it's not important
to maintain." All landscaping must be maintained and have a neat
and attractive appearance. It must be free of weeds, the trees need
to be maintained, and all irrigation/drainage need to be maintained
as well.
If Code Compliance inspects your property and sees your rear yard
landscaping maintenance is required, you will be given a violation
notice, with 14-day correction allotment in accordance with your
Solera OVG Enforcement Policy. If you do not correct the violation,
you could potentially be fined. We want Solera residents to be proud
of our community.
