Minerva Mullick, age 65, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at the Loma Linda University Medical Center, Intensive Care Unit. She entered the hospital after being overcome by a sudden weakness that ended after 14 days of unsuccessful treatment in the Intensive Care Unit. The affliction that took her life is not known. Minerva was born in Puerto Rico, raised three children, had five grandchildren, and three great- grandchildren. After childhood years in Puerto Rico and New York, she lived in Alaska and Florida as an Army wife. She was an administrative assistant for the Provost Marshall at Fort Irwin in Barstow, followed by positions in executive search, retail, and vault responsibilities at the Morongo Indian Tribe casino. Her positions and responsibilities have always been supported by a fierce sense of devotion to ethics, honesty, and attention to detail. Her final position was as a legal assistant with her husband, Attorney Emile M. Mullick, for 19 years. She managed the law office billing, filing, and her bilingual skills came into play for her receptionist duties at the law office. Minerva was much more than a legal secretary or assistant. She supported her husband by editing his legal briefs, preparing for and assisting in trials, being beside him at the counsel table and with him at other court appearances. She was familiar with court procedures and was respected by court staff. She pursued college courses wherever she lived, studying subjects as varied as mathematics, geology, sociology, and political science. She completed Spanish Language Translator and Interpreter Certification at University of California at Riverside. She enjoyed a continuing relationship with Crafton Hills Junior College Political Science Professor Steve Hellerman, and she volunteered her husband Emile as a guest lecturer at Professor Hellerman's classes every semester for three years. Minerva was a pillar of strength for her family, generous and loving, always ready to help her many family members. She will be greatly missed by her family.
