44 | LIFE IN SOLERA | JUNE 2023 | "Oh, the places we go!" We traveled to beautiful Rancho Jurupa Regional Park in nearby Jurupa Valley for our spring campout. Rancho Jurupa has been a favorite park of several members and we did what we do best, we ate. The group dined at three well-known local restaurants. For breakfast our second day was the quaint Flabob Airport Café. Nothing like eating breakfast while watching airplanes taxi by. Our second dining adventure was in downtown Riverside to Tios Tacos for lunch the next day. Tios Tacos is known for its eclectic art in their patio area and great food especially the carne asada tacos. We finished our last night with dinner at Anchos in Riverside. Anchos has a kind of Southwest Mexican vibe going on. As you arrive, your senses are treated to the wonderful smell of mesquite wood burning. It's a busy place, but we were promptly seated and served with Anchos famous freshly-made, warm flour tortillas and salsa. We had to loosen up our belts after this dinner! What else did we do? Well, we ate some more. Debbie Monroe made her famous aebelskivers as part of a morning breakfast she prepared. What's an aebelskiver? Come to one of our campouts and see for yourself. Debbie also organized a loaded baked potato dinner one night. She supplied the baked potatoes (and a few sweet potatoes) while the rest of the group supplied their favorite toppings. Very simple, very filling and very delicious. We didn't eat all the time. Four of us made our way to downtown Riverside to visit the Cheech Marin Museum. This is the new "must see" thing to do when visiting Riverside. We saw some very unique artwork by local artists. Riverside is very lucky to have been chosen to house such a wonderful museum. Others did some maintenance work on their RVs. Debbie went to buy a persimmon tree. Even though the weather was cold and windy at times, we managed to have some great campfires. When talking around the campfires, we learned that some of us grew up fairly close to each other. It's a small world indeed. We're planning for a couple of small campouts this summer. In the fall, we will be returning to Lake Skinner and possibly Prado Dam Recreational Area in nearby Chino. Look for the RV Group's first entry in the annual Solera Fourth of July parade. Our June meeting will be Fri., June 9 at 3 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. Visitors are always welcomed with a smile. ~ Ron Monroe, (909) 732-6139 RV GROUP
