| THE COLONY NEWS | JUNE 2023 | 3 From the Desk of David Matteucci By David Matteucci, Director Hello and happy summer! I am David Matteucci, the newly appointed director of the HOA Board. Although I was not elected, I want to thank all those who supported my nomination, selection and subsequent appointment to the Board. I stand on the shoulders of Joanne Deacon, as I fill her seat for this term. I hope to carry on her agenda and provide the community I enjoy living in with honest, respectful integrity and be one who listens to the needs of the residents. Many of you may know me from The Colony Wine Club as Director of Education, "Mr. Wineman." I have been associated with the club for five years. I also served on the Landscape Advisory Committee (LAC) for two years and continue as their liaison. I am also a Block Captain with Emergency Response Team (ERT) and recently part of the Actors Studio (aka Detective Harris). As we approach summer, there are lots of new projects on the way. The pool deck replacement, auditorium lighting and audio replacement, greenbelt turf renovation, new plant plantings and many other items on the list. I hope these projects will bring ease and enjoyment to the community. Speaking of ease and enjoyment, let us try to be courteous to all our neighbors whether outdoors or in. That includes recreation facilities, the pool and fitness center. On that subject, I would like to offer food for thought going forward. • Treat others as you would like to be treated (The Golden Rule). • Be neighborly because shared ownership fails without cooperation. • Be positive with regards to our Directors and Committee Members, that they are doing their best as volunteers and give them the benefit of the doubt. • Ask questions before making statements, criticizing or accusing others. • Take the long view of our Association property, supporting growth and maintaining our community. • Join a committee to help share the load. • Find ways to enhance our community. • Try to find ways to resolve disputes with neighbors or the Association. Conflict resolution is almost always more effective than the alternative we all know too well. • Find opportunities to thank all the residents involved, staff, etc., for their service to our wonderful community here at The Colony. • Lastly, follow The Golden Rule. I hope when you read this in June that this finds you all well and enjoying the summer. Enough with the rain! I am here to serve all of you in the community. So don't hesitate to reach out to us on the Board, we're here to help if you have a question or concern. Take care and enjoy the summer, Dave.
