ACCESS CONTROL & SAFETY By Colleen Morrison, Property Management Staff
Access Control and Safety is an advisory committee to the HOA
Board of Directors and the General Manager which regularly
evaluates these issues in The Colony and receives monthly reports
and statistics from Community Patrol (Nordic Security).
Security Statistics: For June 2023, there were a total of 21,004
gate entries recorded consisting of guests, recreational vehicles,
vendors, and golfers. Nordic Security performed 22 property/
residence checks and issued 9 citations for stop sign violations
and 0 speeding citations. There were 33 medical, fire, and police
incidents. Nordic cited 19 residents for various parking violations,
guest pass violations, and guest/vendor violations. 19 residents
were cited for putting trash cans out too early and/or not putting
them away. 20 garage doors were found to be open, and Nordic
made calls to each resident to advise them to close their garage
doors. Nordic responded to 44 miscellaneous incidents related
to deceased residents, dogs (barking, lost, off leash), guests on
property without a resident, guest RV on site after midnight,
solicitors, disorderly conduct, gate strikes/tailgaters, suspicious
activity, trespassers, welfare /wellness checks, broken/burst water
lines/sprinkler systems.
Spring has sprung and summer is in full bloom. With warmer
days comes more time spent outdoors. Now is a great time to
check and replace worn and/or faded umbrellas and patio blinds
(or maybe they just need a good cleaning?).
How are your flags? If Old Glory is looking REALLY old, order
a new one and dispose of the worn one in the mailbox at the golf
course.
Spruce up outside with fresh house numbers. This helps
our emergency responders find your house, if and when you
need them. While you're out front, how about those faded and
discolored flowers? Replace them with new UV resistant plants
and flowers for a modern, up-to-date look.
Finally, don't forget to check your wrought iron fence. The rain
we've had can cause rusting. A good coat of paint now can prevent
a fence replacement later.
Enjoy your summer!
