| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JULY 2023 | 31 On May 6, several members of the Ladies Club attended a matinee performance of Born Yesterday, performed by the Riverside Community Players. A tale of comedic intrigue, the show was the seventh longest running non-musical in Broadway history as of 2019 (per Wikipedia) and has been in nearly constant production in regional or community theaters ever since. We had such a good time, we've scheduled another trip for club members in early July to see, Witness for the Prosecution. On May 13, more than 20 ladies attended the Assistance League of Hemacinto's luncheon and fashion show, one of the organization's annual fundraisers. e show featured pieces that had been donated to their thri store, modeled by League members. In addition to the fashion show, we were treated to a delightful lunch and allowed to spend time browsing racks of clothing, trying on outfits and purchasing them at rock bottom prices. A few weeks prior to the fashion show, two League members spoke at our April meeting. ere, they explained that the money raised from the event would help to provide school clothing for elementary and first year middle schoolers, and give scholarships to select students at San Jacinto College. May 16th found several of us at the Regal eater in San Jacinto watching the movie, Book Club: e Next Chapter. A sequel to the original Book Club, the film included many of the original cast members, including veteran actors Candice Bergen, Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton, and Mary Steenburgen. In this rendition of the movie Book Club, the intrepid ladies travel to Italy to see one of their own get married (again). With that crazy foursome, what could go wrong? In anticipation of the movie, our own Activities Director, Tracie Rodgers, obtained a copy of the original film, which we watched in an exclusive showing at e Lodge. is month, as usual, the Ladies Club lived up to its motto: Having fun, being positive, staying energized and giving back to the community.
