| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2023 | 29 Come join us to show and share your items, learn new things with us,or teach us your talents. We really want to learn new things. We meet first, third, and fifth Mondays from 1 to 3 pm. For info, call Jan Hamm at (951) 212-6799 or Vivian Myrdahl at (626) 221-0872. Sun Lakes Quilters Sew What? Club Happy Fourth of July! Remember to take lots of snapshots of the annual golf cart parade, as I foresee an opportunity for some very colorful photos for a cute scrapbook. The classic car parade also provides great subjects to photograph. Seeing these beautifully restored vehicles takes me back to those good old days of muscle cars, first dates, and loud engines! I am excited to report that our July Make 'n Take project will be to design and create our own little fairy gardens. They are so popular lately, and I'm loving what I have seen online and in stores. So many possibilities to add some "cuteness" to your patio and/or indoor plants. Start shopping around and see what you can find to build your fairy garden. You might even have things at home that could be used. Toadstools, miniature gates, birdbaths, fences, wishing wells, and of course fairies and gnomes, and pretty much anything tiny. A plant saucer makes a good base for your garden as well as birdbaths. For the rock painters out there, painting tiny little rocks or pebbles would also make cute additions. We will most likely be working on our fairy gardens at our July 24 meeting. July meetings will be July 3 in the Bus Room, and July 17, 24, and 31 in the Multi-purpose Room. The meeting times are 1 to 3 pm. There will be no meeting July 10. The monthly luncheon will be on Thurs., July 13 at 11 am in the Atrium. For more information or questions, call Elaine Perkins at (951) 334-3119 or Sallie Flesher at (951) 902-9768. Paper Crafting All ladies interested in sewing are encouraged to attend our Sew What? Club meetings the first and third Tuesdays in the Arts & Crafts Room from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. If you have questions, please call Gail at (951) 797-3589 and leave your name and number and I'll call you back. Sun Lakes Mudslingers We meet every Tuesday from 3 to 6 pm and Fridays from 9 am to 12 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. No prior experience is needed. Month- to-month sign up is allowed, so no lengthy commitment. We do have space limitations though. Right now there is room for a few more budding artists. If you ever wanted to play in the mud or learn to use the wheel, now is your chance. The cost is $70 per month and includes all supplies and materials needed. Just bring yourself and have fun. Try out a new hobby with very little expense and no new "stuff " to store. For more info, email Camille Meldrum at camille.meldrum@gmail.com. Fiber Artists Fiber Arts is busy crocheting and knitting. We donated 30 blankets to Kaiser Permanente in Fontana last month and many of us are working on more. We love new knitters and love to see new projects so feel free to stop by on Mondays in the North Clubhouse at 12:30 pm. We can help with dropped stitches, or start you out on a new hobby. On the second Monday, we share yarn and supplies we can no longer use. On the last Monday of the month we share a potluck lunch and we are good cooks as well as needle artists. For information, contact Carol Willis at (404) 245-6939 or Diane Black at (801) 367-5999. L-R: Top row, Mary Ann, Diane and Siran Bottom row, Carol, Shelly, Norma and Kathy, with the Kaiser Permanente Fontana donation
