58 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2023 | Well, here it is July and I'm wondering how 2023 is almost half over already. It is said that the older one gets, the faster time goes by. I do not remember anyone saying it goes by like it's light speed. Anyway, so far this year we've had two wonderful, fun-filled trips — one to Yuma, Arizona, and the other to Pahrump, Nevada. Our next outing is planned for the Hemet Golden Village Palms. The dates are Sept. 24-29. I know, you ask why Hemet? Well, it is a wonderful campground with lots of activities, golf courses close by, and wine tasting. Besides that, it's only 25 minutes from Sun Lakes. What more can you ask for? Our trail bosses for this outing are Randy Miller and Barb Reed. They will be reaching out for volunteers to be on the committee. If you're interested in helping out, they can be reached at rkyracerrb@ gmail.com. During the yard sale weekend, I was approached on how to join the RV Club. There are forms at the Main Clubhouse, but I've learned that they went from being in their own slot, to the back of someone else's slot. Our Board members are Leon Fikse (lfikse@msn.com) President, Bob Schive (bobschive@gmail.com) Vice-President, Sandi Fetterman (sandischilling73@gmail.com) Treasurer, and Bea Mercado (bessadiemercado@gmail.com) Secretary. You can reach out to any of us and we'll be happy to help you join our fun group. Bear in mind, you do not need a rig to join, as most of the locations we go to have cottages that can be rented. Something to think about if you're considering joining but don't have a motorhome, trailer, or horse and buggy to get you there. Looking towards 2024, we have two locations that we need Trail Bosses for … one is Boulder Creek in Lone Pine; however at the Board meeting, there was discussion of changing the location to Bishop, as you can go and see numerous places from Bishop. Those dates are 4/28 to 5/3/2024. The other trip planned so far is to Zion National Park 9/22 to 9/27/2024. While this is in the planning stages, there is the possibility of several members making this an extended trip by going out three to four weeks before going to Zion, and heading up to Cody, Wyoming, and other locations in between. Again this is in the planning stage, so nothing is firm yet. Lastly, here's a shout out to our July birthday members. While the past few months had as many as six birthdays each month, July is a little busier. Happy birthday to Nancy 7/21, Gino 7/25, Richard 7/13, Jim 7/30, Vivian 7/24, Robin 7/26, Lauri 7/17, Darrell 7/4 (everyone celebrates Darrell's birthday), Colin 7/18, and last but not least Carmen 7/17.
