Happy birthday, America! You look good for being 246 years old! Come join your friends on Fri., July 21 for a belated Fourth of July Celebration. Doors open at 5:15 pm and the meeting starts at 5:45 pm in the South Clubhouse. Thomas Catering will be serving hot dogs & hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, and patriotically decorated cupcakes. Back by popular demand, we will be playing regular-style Bingo. No daubers needed. We will give away prizes. Dues are $15 per year. Dinners are $20 for members. Guests living outside of Sun Lakes and are friends/relatives of residents are welcome for the evening. The cost is $24 per person. If you live in Sun Lakes, you may come as a guest one time for $24 per person. After that, you'll want to join the club! Make checks payable for next month's dinner reservation to Social Singles and drop off at Barbara Semic's house, 2299 Wailea Beach Dr, (951) 769-9809 or put it in the basket in the back of the room during the meeting. Membership dues and applications should be made out to Social Singles and dropped off at Kymm Terlau's house, 5871 Brookside Dr, (909) 377-3156. Checks are due for the following month's meeting the Thursday of the week before. Open seating. Young at Heart Wow, have we had some kind of crazy weather! Hopefully, all the mothers had a wonderful Mother's Day and the fathers had a fabulous Father's Day! Our Siete de Mayo Golf Tournament event was a big hit again. We had 15 teams participate in a 4 person scramble in which you were able to use a string once on the green. We had a Mexican dinner catered by Tacos and Beer and we had our Margaritaville girls serving cold margaritas for the players. A big thank you goes to Shannon McKinney, Theresa Van Haren, Suzi Robitzer and Nancy Butler for all their help. We had six places that we paid. First place team: Cathy and Jerry Blodgett, Don Laundreaux and Tom Keheley Second place team: Larry and Tanis Polete, Gloria Pena and Valeria Crithfield Third place team: Bob and Michele Walter, Fred Richman and Dennis McKinney Fourth place team: Michael and Mo Farra, Joanne Dixon and Donna Schein Fifth place team: Ray and LaWanda Roberson, Bonnie Seaver and Amanda Fitzgerald Sixth place team: Jeff Van Haren, John Butler, Hank and Eileen Zulkowski Finishing in 15th place was the team of Lyn and Jim Ball and George and Irene Eichel. They received a certificate for a golf lesson. It was a fun afternoon of golf, friends and dinner. Future Events: July 29: Luau (North Clubhouse), $25 per person.
