| LIFE IN SOLERA | JULY 2023 | 39 The Tuesday Night Poker Group is still going strong in providing a night of fun, friendship, and shuffling… the cards that is! One tip about Texas Hold'em as a new player, you will be nervous! Everyone who just starts feels that way, but you will become more relaxed and confident with each Tuesday you come to play. The group is understanding and always helpful to the new players. Should you be interested to learn before a game night, there are plans to hold Intro to Texas Hold'em events, so watch for the flyers on that. We play every Tuesday evening and play starts at 4 pm in Oakmont Room 3. For more information, please contact Earl Scott at (909) 633-4867 or Cindy Bice at (949) 466-3003. We invite you to come and try your hand at Texas Hold'em. ~ Cindy B. TUESDAY NIGHT POKER BINGO SOCIAL CLUB Our club meets twice a month on the first and third Thursdays. Doors open at 5 pm and Bingo begins at 6 pm. For further information, contact Mary Anne Roadick (909) 239-6698. We think you'll enjoy playing Rummikub. It's a tile game that is easy to learn, fast moving and it's different every time it's played so it keeps you thinking and is never boring. Players take turns placing numbered tiles on the table in two kinds of sets: groups/books (three or four of the same number in different colors); and runs (three or more consecutive numbers of the same color). Each tile is worth its face value (the number shown on the tile). To add to the fun there are two jokers which may be used in place of any color and number tile. In order to make an initial meld, each player must place tiles on the table in one or more sets that total at least 30 points. These points must come only from the tiles on each player's rack; for their initial meld, players may not use tiles already played on the table. A joker used in the initial meld scores the value of the tile it represents. When players cannot play any tiles from their racks, they must draw a tile from the pool and their turn is over. Play then passes to the person on their left. The table changes all the time as players add and move tiles during their turn. It combines luck and strategy so every player has a chance to win until the very end when a player plays all the tiles on their rack. RUMMIKUB
