e sixth annual Fourth of July Golf Cart Parade got the holiday festivities off with a bang. A great turnout and many spectacular golf cart decorations. ank you to all the participants and the residents who expressed their appreciation as they drove through their neighborhoods. I continue to be amazed by the golf cart decorations! Tracie Rodgers prepared maps and timing of the parade route and generated several blasts publicizing the event. anks Tracie! Donna McLaughlin and I, Debra and Cecil Frazier, Emilie and Lily Perkins (the Fraziers' daughter and granddaughter), Stella Torres and John Schilling, provided "patriotic" donuts and beverages before the parade. e Lodge front and roundabout decorations were provided by Donna McLaughlin and Tim Gross (e Lodge handyman). ank you! Before the Golf Cart Parade, a special flag raising ceremony was presided over by Jim Crase, the President of the Board of Directors. Don Krampe had requested that a flagpole be erected honoring the Prisoners of War (POWs). e Board approved putting the flag under the U. S. flag in front of e Lodge and the two flags were raised Tuesday morning in front of the Golf Cart Parade participants. ank you, Don, for providing the flag and the initiative for the flag posting. Angie Jara, Lodge staff, was a big help in the flag raising. e Flag Angels were extra busy these last seven weeks; they posted flags for Memorial Day (May 29), Flag Day (June 14), Juneteenth (June 19) and Fourth of July. e Flag Angels sure were a busy group. If you see the below lapel pin/hat, you should know that a Flag Angel is wearing it; be sure to thank them for their tireless and popular work. I can still use additional volunteers to serve as backups to the Flag Angels.
