Golf Club From the President, Tom Moore: Let's revisit "10 Tips for Faster Golf ". 1. Carry an extra ball in your pocket to use in case a "provisional" shot is necessary. 2. If there is ANY doubt about where your ball is, hit a provisional — it's free unless you use it. 3. Limit your search for a lost ball to 3 minutes. When possible, everyone in the group should help. 4. Get back in the cart with your clubs in your hand, put them away aer you get to the next ball. 5. Fill out the scorecard aer you leave the hole. 6. Study your putt while others are putting. 7. When on opposite sides of fairway, park your golf cart in the middle. 8. Ready golf: if you are ready, and can hit safely, take your shot. 9. Avoid taking 5 or 6 "practice swings" before actually hitting the ball! 10. Leave the green immediately aer the last golfer in your group holes out. From the Rules Chair, Bill Swinney: Did you Know? Rule 18 Out of Bounds e out of bounds markers (white stakes) are actually out of bounds. e entire ball must be across the edge to be deemed out of bounds. What are your options? (1) Return to where you hit your previous shot and within one club length, no closer to the hole, drop a ball and with a one stroke penalty play your next shot. You may tee the ball up if it was in the teeing area. (2) Estimate where you believe the ball went out of bounds and walk a straight line to the edge of the fairway and within two club lengths, no closer to the hole, drop a ball and with a two stroke penalty play your next shot. Remember, if you played a provisional ball from your previous spot you must play that ball once you have determined that your original ball is out of bounds. From the Secretary, Irene Becker: Congratulations to Dennis James and Tom Vaughn! ey both achieved holes-in one in June!
