We promise you will see we have a lot of fun! Since many of us are also participating in the Players eater Group's Variety Show in October, the Actors Studio rehearsals will begin in earnest only aer the Variety Show. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Chuck Gordon (our director) at 661-714-3847 or Greg Hill (our chairperson) at 951-526-9896. e Chorus is having a Meet & Greet on Wednesday, Aug. 30, from 3 to 5 pm in the Clubhouse Lounge. New residents interested in singing are invited to join us for snacks and drinks, and to meet and mingle with current Chorus members. Anyone who loves singing is urged to come. You don't need musical training or choral experience, and no auditions are required. Why should you join the Colony Chorus? We're a fun social group that likes to entertain our neighbors and families with our concerts. We share the joy of gathering to li our voices in song. We have a great director, Lorilee Bajema, who is a talented musician, experienced conductor, and who keeps us laughing with her wit and droll humor. She also stretches our musical wings and helps us become better singers. Our pianist and percussion accompanists are top notch. We get to sing both familiar favorites and fascinating new tunes. Song arrangements are creative and there are solo and ensemble opportunities. Male voice ranges are especially needed! And you don't have to be a man, since many women's voices are pitched in the male voice range, which includes tenor, baritone and bass. Tenors can sing well into the soprano range, baritones are in low alto range, and basses have very low ranges. Many women can readily sing tenor and baritone. When women sing bass, they usually pitch lower notes an octave higher. Ladies, think out of the box and consider singing male voice parts! e chorus has two concerts annually, a Spring concert the last weekend in April and a Holiday concert the first weekend in December. Both follow themes chosen by the conductor and Board that guide the music, costumes and decorations. is fall our theme is "By Dickens, We're Scrooged" to provide a different take on Christmas music. Our first rehearsal will be ursday, September 7, from 9 to 11:15 am in the Auditorium, with weekly rehearsals each ursday. Membership dues are $25 per concert to cover cost of music, conductor and accompanists, decorations, and social events. Come join your Colony neighbors to "sing like the angels — or at least the birdies — sing!"
