Ball Gowns & Formal Attire By Rita Nastri Maintaining your hummingbird feeder is imperative to our small friends - especially during our HOT SUMMER MONTHS. Hang your feeder in a shady area. Hot sun causes rapid spoilage of the sugar solution, and sugar water is a good medium for the growth of pathogens. It promotes a fungus that causes swelling of a hummingbird's tongue, leaving the bird unable to eat. A horrible death follows. Birds with infected tongues can also pass this along to their young, causing their death as well. Do not feed your hummingbirds more than they can drink in two or three days. When refilling be sure to THOROUGHLY scrub the feeder in hot water. Don't forget the proper mix: that in hot weather reduce the sugar-water ratio down to one part sugar and five parts of BOILING water (too much sugar can leave them feeling tired and dehydrated). Cool to room temperature and then fill the feeder. Please be kind to our little friends and keep them safe! Hummingbird Alert HOA Rules & Regulations 1.2.8 and 5.7 Please keep in mind that Rule 5.7 of the Association's Rules & Regulations regarding pets states, "Pets shall be kept on a leash at all times, except within a resident's enclosed yard." is includes all walking paths and any and all other portions of the common area. In addition, greenbelt areas cannot be used as an area for pets to roam free. Reminder: Rule 1.2.8 of the Association's Rules & Regulations emphasizes that the City of Murrieta leash laws will be enforced within the Colony: "Pets shall not be allowed in Clubhouse, Annex or gated areas, with the exception of service dogs. e City of Murrieta leash law will be enforced." If you are found to be in violation of either of these rules, you will be invited to a Violations Hearing where fines may be imposed. PET RULE REMINDER
