e Racquet Club dinner for June was a fabulous Fiesta
Party held in the patio area and prepared by Linda Kight and
Sharon Smith, with help from other members. Tacos Albor
catered the event, cooking three different types of meats onsite
and providing all the fixings to go with them. Homemade
cookies and brownies followed for dessert, yummy! A record-
breaking number of people attended, from ping pong, tennis,
pickleball and paddle tennis, along with several newcomers to
our community. From all I have heard, I picked the wrong time
to be on vacation!
Our July tournament had 24 players, the most we have had
in quite some time. Laurie Freres and Lisa Schrader supplied
a terrific breakfast. e Women's winner was Lisa Otten and
the Men's winner was Glenn Sailer. e Racquet dinner was
potluck and had a wonderful variety of tasty food.
You have probably noticed that summer has arrived. I guess
it had to happen sooner or later! As the temperatures climb
higher, we all need to be mindful of our hydration. According
to the Mayo Clinic, healthy adults can use the eight glasses a day
of water as a guideline, while keeping in mind that any activity
that makes us sweat always means we need more water. It is
important to drink water before, during and aer a workout.
Make it a habit to carry water with you on the courts; your body
will thank you for it.
If you are new here or if you just want to learn a fun sport
while making some wonderful friends, call Ellen Micheli at 951-
741-5372 or Karen Nichols at 619-550-8194 for paddle tennis,
and John Knitter at 951-805-2456 for free tennis lessons. We
would love to have you join us.
