| OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2023 | 49 With the beautiful and cooperative weather we have enjoyed, our club is off and running. 31 sails have been completed through the end of June and 24 more are scheduled in July and August. It looks like we will have a very robust year. We have more than 240 members on the club roster (a record). e demand for sails continues to rise and our Fleet Captain and his Captains and Mates team continue to deliver. e September sails will include the Hal Bolton Memorial Regatta. e club's Regatta Committee has been working hard to put the event together. ere will be five boats participating in the regatta. e goal will be to sail around a predefined course within the San Diego Bay and the main channel. e boats will not venture into the open ocean. It should be an exciting and fun sail for all who participate. Captains and Mates have signed up and crew members are being sought. ere will be a Captain and Mate plus three crew members on each boat. Crew members will help with sail trim, the helm and handheld radio communications with other boats and the starting committee on shore. e whole event will last two to three hours. It will be fun for all who participate. e goal is to build camaraderies among our sailors and club members. Following the race, an informal dinner will take place back at the club house with trophies and speeches and a lot of salty sea tales being told by the regatta participants. If you haven't signed up to participate as a crew member, you may do so at the clubhouse. It will be a memorable event. Fair winds and following seas to all. ~ Skip Maniscalco Sailing Club Calorie Free Happy Hour If you are interested in improving strength, flexibility, endurance, balance, and overall body conditioning, then you may want to consider attending an aerobics class to see if it fits your needs. is is an all standing low impact class… NO JUMPING!
