The multi-talented Renee Rojanaro will be out on the Veranda performing at "her favorite place." So please join us on the Veranda (between 5 and 8 pm) on the following dates to enjoy some great music and dancing: Wed., Aug. 2; Wed., Sept. 6. MUSIC UNDER THE STARS & WEEKEND ENTERTAINMENT ON THE VERANDA Get ready for our exciting entertainment on the Veranda this summer. The Recreation Department will provide three evenings of wonderful music where the band will be set up on the outside of the Veranda where you can bring your carts onto the driving range allowing you to set up some tables and chairs and have a great time with your fellow neighbors. We hope you join us as we dance the night away. Please remember, it's first come, first served seating and no outside alcohol or food can be consumed on the Veranda. August's schedule is as follows: Fri., Aug. 4 - Showdown; Sat., Aug. 5 - Delaney & Jaymes; Fri., Aug. 11 - Jamestown; Sat., Aug. 12 - One-2-Many; Fri., Aug. 18 - DJ Luis; Sat., Aug. 19 - Generations; Fri., Aug. 25- Hotwyre; Sat., Aug. 26 - Smoking Guns. ICE CREAM SOCIALS in the Restaurant at 2 pm on Mondays, Aug. 7, Sept. 11, and in the Sandwedge on Oct. 2. It's a summer favorite brought to you by the Recreation Department and Recreation Advisory Committee. Sundaes will be $3 for three scoops of ice cream and your choice of a plethora of fixings. SUNDAY CONCERT SERIES Sun., Sept. 17, 2 pm, doors open at 1:30 pm, $15 pp. A fun stylized jazz fusion horn band- enjoy their variety of fun jazz and playing a variety of music from all eras for listening and dancing featuring Gickey & the Monsters. Tickets are on sale now. Tickets are $15 per person. ACTIVITIES DAY Sat., Sept. 23 in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom from 1 to 4 pm. The Recreation Department is proud to continue its yearly tradition of Activities Day. Each year all the active clubs, groups and recreation get together to show you what Sun Lakes has to offer. Want to join a new club? Want to know exactly what the Young at Heart Club is all about? Want to learn how to play 8-ball or bocce? How about trying your hand at acting? This is the event for you. It is also the perfect time to learn more about the various advisory committees - most committees will be on the look-out for new members this fall, and you can pick-up a volunteer interest form. Mark your calendars and bring your neighbors and friends. FALL GARAGE SALES Start cleaning out those garages for our Fall Garage Sales. Sales are 8 am to 4 pm. Residents are asked to have any remaining items that did not sell back into their homes after the garage sale. Dates and district participation are as follows: Oct. 7: Districts 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 & 23 Oct. 14: Districts 2, 3, 5, 7, 16 & 17 Oct. 21: Districts 1, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13 COMMUNITY SHREDDING Fri., Oct. 6, 9 am to 12 pm, Main Clubhouse parking lot; $5 per box. Do you have boxes of paper just lying around taking up space? If so, we have a solution for you. I-Shred will be on-site so you can get rid of those confidential papers that you no longer need without having to drive to a place and pay a large fee. No sign-ups are required. Just show up with your boxes.
