| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2023 | 29 Join us! We're having lots of fun sharing donations of books, sewing notions, and fabric. New ladies have been sharing lots of great quilts they had made. For info, call Jan Hamm at (951) 212-6799 or Vivian Myrdahl at (626) 221-0872. We meet the first, third and fifth Mondays of the month from 1 to 5 pm. Sun Lakes Quilters Sew What? Club We're in full summer mode here, with many opportunities for albums. Visits from grandkids and other family members, in addition to vacation photos, all need to make their way into scrapbooks. The goal is to preserve all those great memories collected. Don't leave all the photos on your phone, soon to be forgotten or lost. I enjoy looking back at albums I have created of long-ago trips. It is like traveling there and experiencing it all over again. Remember, what isn't written down is forever lost. I am happy to report that our current and somewhat confusing meeting schedule will make substantially more sense next year. We have received verification that we will be meeting EVERY Monday AND in the same room each week. Yay! The only thing that will be different is that on the second Monday of the month, we will meet from 11 am to 1 pm. All other Mondays will be the usual 1 to 3 pm. Every meeting will be in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. As you are reading this, make a note and place it in your calendar in December to remind yourself of this change for 2024. Meeting dates for August will be Aug. 7 in the Bus Room, and Aug. 21 and 28 in the Multipurpose Room. No meeting Aug. 14. The meeting times are 1 to 3 pm. The monthly luncheon will be on Thurs., Aug. 10 at 11 am in the Atrium. For more information, call Elaine Perkins at (951) 334-3119 or Sallie Flesher at (951) 902-9768. Paper Crafting All ladies interested in sewing are encouraged to attend our Sew What? Club meetings the first and third Tuesdays in the Arts & Crafts Room from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. If you have questions, please call Gail at (951) 797-3589 and leave your name and number and I'll call you back. Sun Lakes Mudslingers We meet every Tuesday from 3 to 6 pm and Fridays from 9 am to 12 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. No prior experience is needed. Month-to-month sign up is allowed, so no lengthy commitment. We do have space limitations though. Right now there is room for a few more budding artists. If you ever wanted to play in the mud or learn to use the wheel, now is your chance. The cost is $70 per month and includes all supplies and materials needed. Just bring yourself and have fun. Try out a new hobby with very little expense and no new "stuff " to store. For more info, email Camille Meldrum at camille.meldrum@ gmail.com. Fiber Artists Now's the time to start the small, hand-created items for Christmas gifts. It's too warm for a big project like an afghan, but perfect for scarves and hats. We can help! We are continuing the blanket project for Kaiser Hospital in Fontana, enjoying working with new yarns and colors. We enjoy new yarn enthusiasts and love to see new projects of all kinds — crocheting, knitting, weaving, cross stitch — all are welcome, so feel free to come join us on Mondays in the North Clubhouse at 12:30 pm. We can help with dropped stitches, or start you out on a new project and hobby. On the second Monday, we share yarn and supplies we can no longer use. On the last Monday of the month we share a potluck lunch and we are as good at cooking as we are fiber artists. For information, contact Carol Willis at (404) 245-6939 or Diane Black at (801) 367-5999.
