36 | LIFE IN SOLERA | AUGUST 2023 | HIGH NOTES FROM KARAOKE The live concert venues in the 60s and 70s were huge outdoor events and became very famous with several big-name acts which were first promoted by T.V. and radio legends like Dick Clark. As time went on, there was Woodstock and The Cow Palace in San Francisco, promoted by Bill Graham. The live concert scene expanded with such events as California Jam and, more recently, Lollapalozza and Stagecoach concerts, which draw crowds by the millions. Nowadays, I really have to think twice before attending such events. The intense sun, the hectic parking, and restroom lines are just a few things that keep me away. No matter who I may be dying to see at a live outdoor event, I usually just pass. These days I choose to attend the concert in my mind as I playback my Hot August Night album by Neil Diamond or maybe my Frampton Comes Alive LP by Peter Frampton. It's the next best thing to being there. As a result of the popularity of these albums, the record companies decided to release single recordings from these albums, edited just for radio play. Here is a short list of some of the best of these. Show Me e Way, Peter Frampton Star Spangled Banner, Whitney Houston e Wonder Of You, Elvis Presley My Ding A Ling, Chuck Berry Hello Muddah Hello Fuddah, Alan Sherman Freebird, Lynyrd Skynyrd Have I Told You Lately, Rod Stewart Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show, Neil Diamond Maybe I'm Amazed, Paul McCartney Finger Tips Part 2, Little Stevie Wonder Tusk, Fleetwood Mac Stay, Jackson Brown Got To Give It Up, Marvin Gaye Five O'Clock Somewhere, Alan Jackson & Jimmy Buffett Boy Named Sue, Johnny Cash An American Trilogy, Elvis e Lonely Bull, Herb Alpert I Want You To Want Me, Cheap Trick Write is Down, George Strait Here Comes e Sun, Richie Haven You may have a favorite live album not listed here; however, when you join Rosie Ingalls, Barb Miller and D.J.
