38 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2023 Country Line Dancing Music is the universal language. No matter where you are when music is playing, people are smiling, toes are tapping, or fingers are snapping. Different people like different types of music. Their dances are different too. When I visit Texas, they do other dances to some of our favorite songs. And I struggle to pick up the steps even though I know them, they are just in a different order. It takes several "walls" of dancing before I feel comfortable with the dance. It is a challenge to both my feet and my brain. Although I am leaving at the end of the year, I have decided to teach one more very-beginner class. It will be a 30-minute class beginning Aug. 1 at 3:30 pm in The Lodge Ballroom. It will be a five-week class. I will teach you one step at a time for each dance. All dances will be beginner dances concentrating on the basic steps of line dancing. At the end of five weeks, I will decide if the class needs to be extended. Whether you only want to learn basic dances for a wedding or party or want to start and go on to more line dances, this class will teach you the basic steps. Please call or text me if you are interested in the class. I am looking for someone new to teach the Tuesday Line Dance Class. Although I still love to dance, I have decided to retire at the end of the year. After teaching dance for 13 years here, I have other interests I want to pursue. If you have any interest in teaching, or have questions, please contact me. The dancers in this class are wonderful, friendly, and love to just dance. They are also very good dancers. Hope to see you on the dance floor. ~ Martha Franck, marthafranck@icloud.com, (714) 345-8588 In August, we continue to cover Country Western. We will provide an overview of many of the most popular Country Western dances: The Ten Step, Cowboy Cha Cha, Two Step, Texas Two Step, Cotton Eyed Joe, Waltz Across Texas, Country Western Swing, Country Western Waltz, and, of course, the Barn Dance. Although some of these dances can be done as a line dance, we will show you how they can be done as a couple's dance. This is always a lot of fun, very relaxed and easy. These classes are for all levels, just plan on two hours and don't worry, we'll give you breaks. We have decided to focus on Two Step for the first section, and various dances in the last section. Leaving it somewhat open for the class' interests. You will be able to try out your new dance moves when we go to the Brandin' Iron as a group at the end of the second month's session. Wear your boots, jeans, and hats and come have a good time, ya' hear? Let's Dance Social Dance Club meets in The Lodge Ballroom every Monday evening with FREE open practice and review from 6 to 6:30 pm. The cost is only $10 per person for professional instruction, and you are welcome to stay for the entire session. The instructors are flexible and adjust to the needs of the class. For more information, please contact Brian Fusilier (909) 215- 2778 or Lisa Johnson (714) 322-8877. See you on the dance floor. ~ Lisa Johnson Let's Dance!
