FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2023 57 Your 8-Ball Club continues the season with lots of practice and tournaments. Just a reminder the club practices or plays tournaments Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 6:30 to 9 pm. We hold a Club meeting on the first Wednesday of each month, an 8-Ball tournament on the second Wednesday of the month, and a 9-Ball tournament on the fourth Wednesday of the month. This month's in-house 8-Ball tournament had ten 8-Ball Club members competing in the tournament. There were several times when players got rematches. Larry Rice sent John Johnson to the loser bracket in round three only to meet him again in round five. Larry had luck on his side and came out the winner again. Larry met Doug in round four with Doug coming away with the win. Larry then met Doug again in round six, the final match with Doug coming away with the win to become this month's 8-Ball Tournament champion. Congratulations to Doug, this month's 8-Ball Tournament champion and to Larry, runner-up. July's in-house 9-Ball tournament was skipped because the tournament coordinator was not available. We will be training others to coordinate and run tournaments. For off-site tournaments, note these addresses: Solera Oak Valley (1615 Fairway Dr., Beaumont); Solera Diamond Valley (1645 Paseo Diamante, Hemet). If you're new to the game or have played before, don't be shy — stop by, pick up a stick and give us a try. Walk in and ask for Del, Larry, or any of the members playing. The 8-Ball Club is always looking for new members who would like to learn and play pool to join us. There is a calendar of our events in The Lodge Billiards Room on the 8-Ball Club bulletin board. If you have any questions, contact one of the officers: Captain Del Lyles, Sr. at (951) 267-1752 or Co-Captain Larry Rice at (951) 236-1156. If no one answers, just leave a message and one of us will get back to you. ~ Larry Rice 8-Ball Club Curly Cues Billiards With the sizzling hot summer heat, what better way to stay cool on Mondays than being inside playing billiards with a fun group of gals from 11 am until 1 pm. We are always looking for new players and welcome any ladies at any level of playing skill. You don't need to be an expert pool player in order to enjoy our group of ladies. For more information, contact Barbara Morton at (559) 269-0908 or barb93720@ yahoo.com. ~ Barbara Morton Wild Bunch Billiards The "Wild Bunch" is in full swing, and looking forward to having those who are serious and competitive billiards players join us. We enjoy playing 8 Ball, Scotch Doubles, and 9 Ball. You don't have to be the best player, just a player who wants to improve their game in a more competitive setting. The "Wild Bunch" consists of some of the best players in the league, and we are always looking for great competition. Some of these players are Joe Spinella, Bob Rector, Mike Corbett, Paul Snyder, Mike Fisher, Scott Frymire, Dave Martin, Gary Condurucci, Verina Rector, and Gracy Luna, just to name a few. If you want to play serious, competitive pool, we invite you to come by the Billiards Room Friday afternoons from 12:30 to 3:30 pm and join in the stimulation of competitive play. We invite Sun Lakes to join us, and they bring their best game for some exciting competition. Looking forward to seeing you! ~ Gracy Luna, gracyluna@aol. com, (951) 292-3624 Doug Strenger 8-Ball Champion Larry Rice 8-Ball Runner-Up
