We keep hearing about, and SEEING, residents not stopping at stop signs. e Master Board has authorized Securitas to install cameras to monitor when drivers do not come to a stop at stop signs. A stop sign is not a suggestion… it's the law! Below is a list of things we all need to monitor in our own driving. Giving up our keys is no small decision. However, killing or seriously injuring yourself or others would be far worse. Signs it may be time to hang up the keys: • Driving too fast or too slow for road conditions. • Frequent dings, dents, and scrapes on the vehicle. • Delayed response to unexpected situations. • Getting lost, especially in familiar locations. • Becoming easily distracted or having difficulty concentrating. Here are only a few warning signs of unsafe driving: 1. Decrease in confidence while driving. 2. Having difficulty moving into or maintaining the correct lane of traffic. 3. Hitting curbs when making right turns or backing up. 4. Not stopping at stop signs. If you are even a little concerned, please consider taking the AARP Smart Driver course.
