Sun Lakes Quilters Last month, we had so much fun creating adorable fairy gardens in a variety of containers. It was so much fun in fact, that we did it twice. The results of our labors can be seen in the photos below, right. The busy month of December will be here before we know it so it's time to start thinking about our holiday party. This year, it will take place Wed., Dec. 6 at 5 pm. We have reserved the Sandwedge, so we will be able to order right off the Restaurant menu, with a real live wait staff! Even though our menu choices will be limited, we can rest assured there will be something to please everyone, and we will have the beautiful, brand-new bar to utilize. This end-of-the-year event has always been quite popular, with nearly everyone in our group attending. Our party planners this year are Kathy Ankenman, Ann Sansoucie, and Rosanna de Leon. I can't wait to see what's up their festive sleeves, as we never know for sure what will take place. Unpredictable games are planned, along with fun prizes and gift exchanges. Perhaps a little mischief and silliness? This party is not to be missed. Further information will be announced in future articles. The September schedule will be as follows: Sept. 4 in the Bus Room, and Sept. 18 and 25 in the Multipurpose Room. No meeting Sept. 11. The meeting times are from 1 to 3 pm. The monthly luncheon will be on Thurs., Sept. 14 at 11 am in the Atrium. We started as scrapbookers then evolved into all manner of paper crafts and continue to enjoy so many different forms of creating. We have made fabric necklaces, painted and decoupaged birdhouses, created ornaments from Cridgeware, adorned picture frames with discarded jewelry, learned all about napkin art, and, our latest endeavor, was fairy gardens. We never know what will strike our fancy next but it's always a fun learning experience. Be sure to stop by our table on Activities Day, Sept. 23, 1 to 4 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Paper Crafting Fiber Artists Now's the time to start the small, hand-created items for Christmas gifts. It's too warm for a big project like an afghan, but perfect for scarves and hats. We can help! We are continuing the blanket project for Kaiser Hospital in Fontana, enjoying working with new yarns and colors. We enjoy new yarn enthusiasts and love to see new projects of all kinds — crocheting, knitting, weaving, cross stitch — all are welcome, so feel free to come join us on Mondays in the North Clubhouse at 12:30 pm. We can help with dropped stitches, or start you out on a new project and hobby. On the second Monday, we share yarn and supplies we can no longer use. On the last Monday of the month we share a potluck lunch and we are as good at cooking as we are fiber artists.
