Jan White (in the bell bottoms) is an inspirational octogenarian. Her vivaciousness abounds as she discovers new things, brings out the best in others, learns from the Bible, and sustains enthusiastic curiosity. Aer retirement, she served as an editor, joined fashion shows and performance- art productions, and taught ESL and Spanish. She likes the maxim, "Worry does not rob tomorrow of its sorrow; it robs today of its strength." Her life motto: "Laugh when you can, apologize when you should, hug warmly, forgive quickly, play hard, take chances, give your all, and have no regrets! Because life is too short to be anything but happy!" Harry Henderson, 90, a retired insurance agent and an electronics technician, among other professions, keeps vibrant with volunteerism. Since moving into Four Seasons eight years ago, he's remained active physically and mentally. He's very involved with Carol's Kitchen, has been a lay minister for 28 years in numerous states, has traveled the world, enjoys ham radio, and is a member of TOPS, where he's reached and maintained his medically suggested weight. He finds joy in knowing he's making a difference, no matter how small it may be. He exemplifies what Mother Teresa said, "We do not great things; we do small things with great love." Lynette Simonson, 89, is a bundle of energy. Being partially blind doesn't stop her from living to the fullest with spunk and sass. She enjoys ballroom and line dancing, being active in her church, world traveling, and being with friends. She recalls memories of designing and building a mountain home with her second husband below Idyllwild, befriending Indian artisans, and 4x4 off-roading across the country. What keeps her buoyant is embracing "the bumps in the road." She touts, "e more terrain you travel, the more bumps there are. Get over them." FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2023 21
