Our FirstService Residential staff are on the job! On Friday, July 14, our Courts attendant first reported the Highland Springs Fire to our management staff. Kudos to our General Manger, Eric Zarr, for quickly contacting Park West to begin watering our Fuel-Mod perimeter areas on the south and west sides of our community twice a day. The Fuel-Mod area consists of 150 feet of irrigated and maintained open space land adjacent to home sites at our western and southern borders of our community. Since that fire, staff have been trained on how to immediately activate our perimeter sprinkler systems should there be a future need. Eric stayed on the job until the fire was no longer a threat to our community. FirstService Residential takes the safety of this community and its residents very seriously. The very next day, we were again threatened by a wildfire. The Rabbit Fire burning in the Gilman Springs area had jumped across Hwy. 79 heading north-east towards our Fuel-Mod perimeter. Again, our sprinkler systems were activated for twice a day watering of our Fuel-Mod areas. When CalFire issued the Rabbit Fire voluntary evacuation warnings for our community, Eric Zarr, with Board acknowledgment, immediately closed our three recreational facilities in order for residents to return to their homes to shelter in place and/or prepare for possible mandatory evacuation. Staff monitored various websites and communicated with Public Safety personnel to provide us with e-blasts as updated information became available. What these recent fires have shown us is that we each have the responsibility to maintain our own safety, stay tuned in for updates, and have an evacuation plan. ~ Claudia Rozzi, Member, Board of Directors Our Own Four Seasons First Responders e Rabbit Fire, July 14 - photo by Ingrid Munsterman Phos-Chek drop - photo by Dave Rohrbacker FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2023 23 A donation collection for the local firefighters was taken up by Brenda MacKey and Donna Gilbraith. They had the idea that if everyone in the community donated just $1, then they would have well over $1,800. So that was the original goal. In six days, they collected $6,413 at The Lodge. Residents from Sun Lakes heard about our collection and took up their own then brought it over to include in ours. Donna and Brenda will present 27 Stater Bros gift cards in the sum of $250 each to our local fire chief later this month. They chose this means of donation as firefighters have to provide their own food at their station. During the collection, a young grandson accompanied his grandmother to The Lodge when she made her donation. The young boy realized what it was and asked his mother if he could have his wallet to donate some of his own money. She told him he could donate a couple dollars. He defiantly said, "No, I'll be donating THREE dollars!" ~ Danya Lynd Go to the online issue of the September 2023 Breeze at imageup.uberflip.com to see videos of the July fire To receive email and text alerts, you can email issues@fourseasonsbeaumont.org or go to https://mailchi.mp/fourseasonsatbeaumont.com/sms-signup For Our Heroes
