SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | SEPTEMBER 2023 5 Recreation Committee By Myrna Rohr, Resident e purpose of the RAC is to advise and make recommendations to the board of Directors that focus on: 1) To the type of recreation activities offered 2) e promotion of the recreation activities 3) e evaluation of recreation activities e role of the RAC members is to assist the Lifestyle Director with events. Examples of events and activities include: Lounge Nights, Music Under the Stars, potlucks, dances, special holiday events, and guest speakers/presentations. RAC members are active within the community, listen to the recommendations and concerns of the residence and report that information to the full committee and staff. e committee consists of seven members, each serving a two- year term. Meetings are held once a month on the first Monday at 10 am in the Lodge. is year we are looking for a few new members to replace members whose tenures are up. SDV resident members interested in the RAC can find RAC Interest Forms in the Lodge. Meet us at Storm Stadium on Fri., Sept. 1 to watch the Lake Elsinore Storm battle it out against the San Jose Giants. e picnic starts at 6:30 pm, and the first pitch is at 7 pm. Ticket price includes: Lot B parking pass, game entry, and picnic. e picnic menu includes: grilled BBQ/fried chicken tenders, street dogs, ballpark nachos, macaroni and cheese, sliced fruit, and fountain beverages. Registration for this event closes on Sun., Aug. 27. Save the date for the Annual Heath Fair on Fri., Sept. 8 from 11 am to 1 pm in the Ballroom. Free services will include blood pressure checks, pulse ox, spinal exam, BMI, and more. A variety of vaccines will be available. Remember to bring a copy of your Medicare and, or insurance card for billing purposes. If you don't have insurance they can still provide some vaccines for free. e time has come to gather up all your paper waste, we will be having a community-wide shred event. Shred-it will be onsite for a bulk shred pick-up on Wed., Sept. 13. e price is $10 per "Banker's box." Only checks can be accepted as payment for this event. A canopy tent will be set up in the parking lot from 10 am to 2 pm to collect your boxes and payments. If you would like to keep your boxes, please be sure to label them with your name and phone number. Shred truck arrival time will be announced closer to the date of the event. Come hang out in the lobby on Fri., Sept. 15, and enjoy a so pretzel and lemonade while you mingle with fellow community members. We will also have cheese dip and mustard to complement the chewy, salty goodness. Registration for this event closes Sun., Sept. 10 so be sure to register early. Cool off with us poolside at the Pool Beach Party on Fri., Sept. 22 at 5 pm. We will have burgers, chips, and dips, with a fruit and candy dessert station. Residents are invited to bring their favorite cold salad (sign-ups will be in the binder at the front desk). We will be serving festive "Ocean Breeze Fishbowl" cocktails. Feel free to bring your own preferred beverages. No glass will be permitted in the pool area. Space is limited so register soon.
