| LIFE IN SOLERA | SEPTEMBER 2023 | 31
The Solera Sippers held their annual Progressive Wine Tasting
event in July. Rather than go to individual members' homes as was
done in the past, we held it in the Oakmont Rooms this year. It was
nice that we were inside in the July heat and no traveling was involved.
August was another free event provided by the club. Many of us
gathered for a simple meal of Fritos & Chili Nachos and had fun
guessing famous movie quotes trivia. Events like this (and the Bocce
tournament in June) are examples of where membership dues are
given back. The club also offsets other events throughout the year
to help defray severely rising costs. It is becoming much more of a
challenge to control these rising costs, and we will be forced to bump
prices up accordingly.
September will be another annual event as we'll taste several wines
provided by Gerard's Market in Redlands.
October is planned to be a western-themed event, and sure to
bring the cowboy/cowgirl out in everyone. Unfortunately, no horses
allowed in the Oakmont rooms (wink, wink).
Our club is open to anyone who enjoys fun and fellowship, whether
you drink wine or not.
Wine fun fact: The oldest known wine cellar is on the Titanic.
When diving vessels first discovered it, amazingly most of the bottles
were still intact.
Membership is required if you are a Solera resident. For
membership or other information, please contact Gary Stoh at (951)
845-1981 or garymstoh@aol.com.
