| LIFE IN SOLERA | SEPTEMBER 2023 | 33 As summer begins to wind down, the Sunshine Club hopes you are enjoying/surviving the summer heat while staying cool and hydrated! The Sunshine Club's mission is to bring a smile and a little sunshine into the lives of residents that are ill, by sending cards to cheer them up. In addition, if a resident has an overnight hospital stay or death in the immediate family, we call or visit, and deliver flowers or a fruit basket. We also do various service projects throughout the year to support the community. We accomplish this by your donations of recyclable aluminum cans and plastic bottles such as water, juice, or tea drinks that are clearly imprinted with the words CA-CRV or CA CASH REFUND. Please remove the caps and keep in mind that plastic containers such as milk, 100 percent juices, Clorox, peanuts, and mouthwash are not recyclable and should be put in your appropriate Waste Management cans. If you are interested in bringing sunshine into our community, we would love to have you join our service organization. We will resume our normal meetings on Sept. 20 from 1 to 2 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room and hope to see you there! If you have any questions, please contact July Charlick at (951) 769-6465 or Diane Coffman at (949) 295-1097. SUNSHINE CLUB Sunshine Helpers Needed! Chronic illnesses, hospitalization, and/or death can hit people hard. If you have a friend or neighbor here in Solera who needs a spark of sunshine, let members of the Sunshine Club know. For your convenience, the yellow Sunshine Box is located on the table in the Mail Room where you can drop off the information for a resident or residents who are sick or have experienced a death in the family. Sometimes just a card or telephone call will brighten someone's day immensely. SOLERAJEEPERS The SoleraJeepers is a group of jeepers in Solera who have a common interest in owning and driving the classic vehicle. The Jeepers have fun together, and sometimes in the company of other jeeper groups and off-road groups such as our fairly near neighbor 4x4 Seasons club. Most recently "co-runs" covered a trail from the 38 into the Santa Ana River area and Seven Oaks Dam as well as a trail from Green Valley Lake to Baldwin Lake, each easy- ish to moderate-ish. Our journeys have been of the one-day variety leaving in the 9 am time slot and returning by 3 or 4 pm the same day. SoleraJeepers scheduled meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 4:30 pm in the Solera Clubhouse. We currently have nine members and invite any other jeepers, or four-wheel enthusiasts, to visit our meetings and take advantage of our trail runs. If you need additional information, please contact Tom Addis at solerajeepers1@gmail.com or taddis@pgahq.com or call (text first) (858) 775-7421 and Ray-Guyton Jacobs at ray.n6kzm@gmail.com or text at (951) 782-1654. We hope to see you at one, or more, of our meetings and then on the trail!
