Golf Club From the President, Tom Moore: It's time to start thinking about tossing your hat in the ring! Elections for your Board of Directors will be upon us next month. We'll be forming an election committee later this month. From the Rules Chair, Bill Swinney: Did you Know? Rule 18 Provisional Ball If your ball might be lost outside a penalty area, or be out of bounds, to save time you may play another ball provisionally under penalty of stroke and distance. is means that on our course here at Hemet Golf Club you are not allowed to hit a provisional ball on, for example, hole #6, hole #13 and hole #17. You must proceed to the other side of the reeded area to determine your fate. You think you may not have cleared the reeds as all three of those holes are either in a penalty area or a no play zone ( no play zones on holes 5, 11, 13 & 15). If you do play a provisional ball, prior to the stroke, you must announce that you are hitting a provisional ball. You may continue to play the provisional ball without losing its status as a provisional ball so long as it is played from a spot that is the same distance or farther from the hole than where your original ball is estimated to be. From the Social Chair, Meredith Becker: Hemet Four Seasons Golf Club is off to a great social season! We had a fun-filled BBQ/ Swim night in July. See the pictures with this article. On Fri., Oct. 20 we are planning to take ourselves back to our High School days with a "Sock Hop!" Girls get those Poodle Skirts out of storage and guys get your sleeves rolled up on your tee shirts! To borrow an old idiom, "the dog days of summer" were upon us, too hot to do much. e Farmers Almanac describes it as the wet and hot days from July 3 to Aug. 11 tied to the heliacat rising of the dog star, Sirius. I always heard it as the long, hot part of the baseball schedule. Aer a pretty busy May, June, and July, the Flag Angels got a bit of a rest from July 4th to Labor Day. ey will be at it again for Labor Day Mon., Sept. 4, for all routes and for Patriots Day Mon., Sept. 11, just for Four Seasons and World Cup. If you see the Flag Angel pin/hat, you should know that a Flag Angel is wearing it; be sure to thank them for their tireless work! As always, I can still use additional volunteers to serve as backups to the Flag Angels.
