One score and zero years ago, we were incorporated as K. Hovnanian's Four Seasons at Hemet Community Association, Inc. We, of course, call ourselves Four Seasons to avoid strangers walking away before we can say the long version. Ten years ago, the Board Message stated the following: "About ten years ago, some folks began to take notice of a new K. Hovnanian Four Seasons 55+ Active Adult Community being created in a place called Hemet, California. It took a considerable leap of faith to put up their earnest money. ere were no model homes and little infrastructure, mostly designs on paper and, in effect, a promiseā¦ the promised infrastructure that would encourage and support such a community has largely been put in place. Considering what happened to many other attempts at community building during the late years of the first decade of this century, we are fortunate." Yes, we are fortunate to live in a community that is financially sound, has an abundance of activities, well maintained facilities, and selfless volunteers. We experienced and survived the great recession of 2008, as well as our recent pandemic. We are resilient, strong, confident, and look forward to the future. Your current Board stands on the shoulders of those who preceded us. We thank them for their time and effort to put the interest of our residents first. eir names are: Gary Rosenberger, Ron Lincoln, Ron Barless, Carol Brancich, Stan Hendrickson, Mick Holland, Hal Townend, Ken Pounders, Greg Rockvam, Russ Brown, Ross omas, Jim Hatcher, Gene Hikel, Don Ortega, and Jerry Hawkins. Looking ahead, we want Four Seasons to continue to be a premier Active Adult Community. is requires all of us to abide by our CC&Rs, Rules and Regulations, By-Laws, and Architectural Guidelines. ese governing documents ensure that we are a desirable place to live. It's also important that these documents are reviewed and updated in a timely basis to reflect the evolving life needs of our residents. In July, we hosted meetings with our County District Supervisor and SCE (Southern California Edison). We learned about county services available to us, some of which are not income dependent. Representatives from SCE provided information regarding minimizing future power outages and how to obtain advanced notice that a power outage could occur. We will continue to invite representatives of the city and county, as well as any agency or group that can benefit our residents, to speak at Four Seasons. It's important to interact with others so we can learn and stay current regarding topics that are important to us. Communicating effectively helps others understand our ideas and thoughts. Whenever we have a Board or Town Hall meeting, residents may want to ask questions or give their opinions and ideas. Here are four rules of verbal communication: 1. Be clear: Ensure that your message is clear and concise. 2. Be organized: Organize your thoughts before you start speaking. 3. Be relevant: Ensure your message is relevant to your audience. 4. Be respectful: Show respect by listening actively and treat others as you would have them treat you. See you at the next Board meeting.
