Your Landscape Committee has taken advantage of many
ursday golf course closures (regular maintenance is done every
ursday) so as to visit the golf course and painstakingly chose
correctly sized, dependable, more drought tolerant, flowering
plants for the periphery of the golf course beginning with the
Alicante slope. Larger, and therefore, more expensive plants must
be selected as their roots will have to compete for water with
other, more established bushes and trees having root systems
so extensive that they have survived for more than two years on
nothing more than rainwater.
Many other plants in the perimeter of the golf course have
not survived the massive undertaking of our golf course renewal
project. It is still not known if our well-chosen plants will be
watered by well water or City of Oceanside water.
While ours is a relatively small golf course, classed as an
"Executive size," the circumference, including the lake, is still
quite extensive and will require much more of our attention going
forward. e Landscape Committee will now take a master plan
approach for consideration. Step by step; it feels like Phoenix
Rising!
