ough this growing sport has long been enjoyed in our wonderful community, this is the first time it has become an official OHCC Club. Approximately two years ago, this friendly group started building a following of many new players. It was felt the time was now right to become a club to fully share this engaging activity with others in our fine community. Our group has a wide range of abilities. With practice, most players improve their game quite a bit. ere is competition, but we try to keep it amiable, and a lot of instruction is voluntarily offered to beginning players. We've even obtained an automatic ball device "robot" which serves out ping pong balls at varying speeds and spins, so folks can practice and improve their game more efficiently. is device can be utilized by beginners, up to advanced players. It's a fun toy to work with. Recently, we've invited the Parkinson's Support Group's members to get involved in trying out table tennis to enhance their hand eye and physical coordination. As with any sport, to avoid injuries, remember to stretch before coming to play. And try to obtain athletic "court shoes" meant for pickleball, tennis, table tennis. is footwear gives greater stability when playing. Our Club generally meets in the Mykonos Room on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 3:30 pm. Non-club members are invited on any of the above days from 2:30 to 3:30 pm to drop by to check us out and play. We welcome all levels of players who want to enjoy the sport and improve their game. On Saturdays and Sundays, if the room is not required aerwards for another activity, the Table Tennis Tables remain in the room, available for visitors and their guests for the rest of the day. ere is also the possibility that in the future our club will utilize the Abravanel Hall, which would give us a larger space to play. A weekly email is sent out to club members to let them know if there have been any schedule changes. Our schedule is also included in the OHCC weekly activity printout available at the Clubhouse front desk and listed on the OHCC website Recreation Calendar. Dues are only $10 yearly - as an added bonus, those who join during these closing months of 2023, will have their membership run through 2024. New members can leave a check at the Clubhouse front desk and file out a membership form. Friendships are oen formed between our members. We're planning fun social events linked to our Club.
