My thoughts have always been a 90-minute "tour" midday on a Thursday finishing (for those who wish) with a self-guided fun finish at the
Palm Springs downtown street fair (I presume you know about that fun evening https://villagefest.org/about-us/). I believe by then the streets
and highways will be easier to navigate although 111 is suspect at this time and Indian Canyon may be under massive repairs for some time.
Daylight diminishes around 5 pm with sunset at around 6 pm on Thursday, Oct. 20 so it will need to be a mid-afternoon-into evening trip
for those wanting the extended evening.
