44 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2023 October is Rumba month. Please come and join us! The Rumba is considered to be one of the most beautiful Latin style dances, earning it is nickname as "The Dance of Love." It is characterized by a still upper body, close partner connections, and the dancers' subtle side to side hip movements with the torso erect. The Rumba is danced with a basic pattern of two quick side steps and a slow forward step. The Rumba is a favorite for dance instructors and new dancers alike for the forgiving slower pace of the dance's steps and music. It is easy on the body and easy to learn. Rumba provides a great starting point for the foundational moves with social Latin dancing. Although it is traditionally danced to slow Latin music, it is now common to dance the Rumba to current, popular ballads. Because of this, the Rumba is a popular style choice for a wedding dance and perfect for a cruise. Below are some songs that the Rumba can be danced: Besame Mucho, Andrea Bocelli Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps, Doris Day A Whole New World, Tanz Orchester Klaus Hallen Nobody Knows, Andy Fortuna Productions Take My Breath Away, Berlin And I Love Her, Ballroom Orchestra and Singers Harlem Nocturne, Big Band Der Bundeswehr Killing Me Soly, Gold Star Ballroom Orchestra Casi un Bolero, Ricky Martin And of course, my favorite: Whatever Lola Wants, DJ Maksy Let's Dance!
