| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | OCTOBER 2023 | 17 "With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" ere are over 2,000 seniors living in Hemet Four Seasons. Having come from different backgrounds, we have forged a strong and secure community over these past 20 years. Before settling into this community, all of us have individually had to make thousands of choices along the way; these choices have come to define who we are. Choices confront us every day, big and small; these choices we make affect our loved ones, our neighbors, our friends, and most of all, ourselves: where, how, and if we travel, which clubs to join, pets we own, politics we believe in, and who and how we worship. We are free to choose our paths, but unfortunately, we cannot select the consequences that come with each choice. May we be tolerant of others' choices, whose visions are not in sync with our own. e power to choose is one of the greatest gis we have as human beings. It's a responsibility that we should take seriously. Each choice we make is an opportunity to create something beautiful. I am reminded by Roy T. Bennett that "Attitude is a choice. Kindness is a choice. Giving is a choice. Respect is a choice." Whatever choice you make may you choose wisely. Team Sunshine had two Kindness Award recipients for August: Greg Synder and Hank Schultz. Greg receives accolades for his kindness in stepping forward to assist fellow residents. A former chef, Greg is a quiet, caring gentleman who is willing to run errands, take people to appointments, or prepare a wonderful meal for them. Hank is a real "go-to" community member, who has cooked hamburgers and hot dogs for many Four Seasons' events, including the Fourth of July, the car show, and the model train festival. ank you, Greg Synder and Hank Schultz, for the positive contributions you have made here at Four Seasons. Sunshine assisted the Elms family with a beautiful celebration of life for Diane Elms in September and we were also notified of the passing of Tom Swanson. His family is planning a remembrance later this year. We extend our sincere condolences to their family members. How to contact Team Sunshine: Caring connection cards with details of Team Sunshine's services are available at the front desk, or you may call one of our two co-chairs: Brenda Beers at (951) 306-6670 or Margie Culton at (951) 491-4058. Closing quote: "Life is about choices. Some we regret. Some we're proud of. Some will haunt us forever. e Message: We are what we choose to be." ~ Graham Brown Team Sunshine
