26 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | OCTOBER 2023 | Needle Me Attention All Yarn Craers e Palliative Care Team of our County Hospital (Riverside University Medical Center) is requesting blankets for their patients. ese are blankets the patients keep aer they leave the hospital. As their Chaplain (now retired), I have seen the positive reactions and comfort these blankets bring to patients. Just knowing that there are kind people willing to help can ease their anxiety and loneliness. It also helps form connections between the patients and their care teams which fosters trust and communication. I want to start assembling community blankets, with each square made by a community member. e piece can be crocheted, knit, or woven, made with machine wash/dry, medium (4) weight yarn, and made into an 8" square. All skill levels are welcome. Nobody is perfect, so I don't expect each square to be. No set patterns or colors and there's no limit to the number of squares you can donate. If you prefer to make an entire blanket, that would be equally appreciated. Finished blankets should be approximately 48" x 56."
