| LIFE IN SOLERA | OCTOBER 2023 | 39 RV GROUP Greetings from your Solera RV Group. We love fall camping. Fall and winter open up more camping options for Southern Californians. The beauty of our local deserts await our exploring. Venturing south towards the San Diego area gives us more camping options and different environments to recreate in. To the north are the wonderful beach camping areas of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Campground reservations are a little easier to make. The weather is cooler and a more laid back approach to camping is offered. All that being said, the RV Group is actively planning its Fall and Spring camping trips. Bonelli Bluffs RV Park in nearby San Dimas and Prado Regional Park in Chino are on our short list. The winter camping trips to Borrego Springs and Quartzsite, Arizona have already been planned. More on that later. Camping trips usually fall under the "one tank" rule. Because of the high cost of fuel, we try to plan for camping trips that can be done round trip with one tank or less of gas or diesel. Did you know that local campgrounds are huge economic generators for their communities? The average campground employs approximately six to ten people. Add in purchases at local stores and attractions, the RV dollar can play a significant role in the local economy of the campground. Staying local as much as possible also keeps our taxes local to benefit our local governments. So on to our winter camping trips. We are very excited to be staying at the beautiful Springs at Borrego RV and Golf Resort In Borrego Springs in February 2024. The resort offers a full RV resort experience complete with tennis courts, pool, recreation center and more. For our 4-wheel drive friends, off- roading trails are nearby. The dates are Feb. 5-10, 2024. This is the camping trip you've been waiting for. In January, our group has once again been invited by the Newmar Owners Club to attend their annual Gathering in the Desert campout in Quartzsite, Arizona. The dates are Jan. 17-21, 2024. This is boondock (no hook ups) camping at its finest. Water and dumping stations are in Quartzsite. Eighty-five dollars covers four dinners, live entertainment and seminars. There are nightly campfires. There is no campground fees since we'll be camping on BLM land. For off- roaders, you get two full days of organized trail riding prior to Jan. 17. Challenge yourself and your rig to an off grid camping experience. The campout coincides with the annual Quartzsite Sports, Vacation and RV Show. The "Big Tent" is something you don't want to miss. For more information about attending the RV Group camping trips, please attend one of our monthly meetings or call Ron Monroe at (909) 732-6139.
