4 | LIFE IN SOLERA | OCTOBER 2023 | Did you know that Solera is an active community? Did you know just how active it is? We have 51 Clubs and Groups, which include a men's and women's billiards group, six Bunco groups, three canasta groups, and two Rummikub groups. This is only 11, which leaves 40 more clubs and groups covering activities like dancing, card games, wine and dine, outside sports like tennis and pickleball, biking and hiking, knitting, painting, religious, historical, and ancestry. There are also seven paid activities with professional trainers, and the list goes on and on. Whether you just moved to Solera or have been here for a long time, you are welcome to join the Social Gathering hosted by the ambassadors of the New Resident Welcome Advisory Committee being held on Wed., Oct. 25 from 6 to 6:40 pm. A representative from each club/group will attend and answer questions about their activities. Light refreshments will be served. All residents are welcome to this event. After the Social Gathering, beginning at 6:45 pm, there is a presentation called "Living in a HOA." This presentation is especially good for anyone who has not lived in an HOA or those who moved in during the past couple of years and were not able to attend in the past. This presentation covers Solera's governing documents, laws which we must follow, how our annual budget is determined, Capital Improvements, Reserves, Operating expenses, responsibilities of the Board, Management, residents, and much more. Answering your questions is very important and a major part of this presentation. The New Resident Welcome Advisory Committee needs you. We need five ambassadors. We meet on the fourth Friday of the month (January thru November) from 1 to 2 pm. During this meeting we distribute Welcome books and contact information of new residents. The ambassadors contact the new resident and schedule a time to meet and go over the book. We host a Social Gathering twice a year in April and October. An ambassador mentors the new ambassadors for as long as they need. Please complete a Volunteer Interest form and turn it in at the office. You must be an owner resident of Solera to join. Thank you to our ambassadors for everything they do in making our new residents feel welcomed to our community. ~ Marcia Casem, Chairperson, New Resident Welcome Advisory Committee Welcome Committee
