| LIFE IN SOLERA | OCTOBER 2023 | 47 GOLF CLUB SAVE THE DATE – Dec. 16, 2023. We will be combining our Annual Golf Membership Party with our Christmas Party. In the past, we asked that attendees to the party bring two toys valued at $10 or more for each gift to be donated to Carol's Kitchen. This year, we will have an option of bringing toys or a check for $20 (per couple) made out to Carol's Kitchen. September started out with an Individual Low Gross and Low Net games. Dave Scott and Jerry Stearn won their respective flights. In the NET flights groups, Flight A was won by Armand Silva while Ernie Salvador took honors in Flight B. Closest-to-the-pins went to Dave Sampson, Alan Forbes, Jess Mendez, and Craig Martin. Closing out August at Yucaipa Valley was the foursome game of Three Best Balls. Play was pretty tight with three teams tying for 1st place at (-6.) Those winners were: Jim Karalun-Ed Young-Salvador- John Dockery; Stearn-Stu Osborne-Craig Martin-Gary Hardy; and Sampson-Tom Hamerla-Ray Smith-Silva. Dockery nabbed two CPs while Brad McDuffee and Richard Crowe each tallied one. As we moved into the last half of August, a twosome Best Ball was on tap. Play was obviously pretty hot in the Mark Hardy-G Hardy- Forbes-Stu Osborne foursome, as the two pairings tied for first place (-7) in the Flight 1. Congrats to Merle Chapman-Stearn for taking the honors (-5) in Flight 2. Kudos also went to MacDuffee, Martin, M Hardy and Young for winning the closest-to-the-pin contests. The previous week's game was Lone Ranger plus one best ball. Congrats to the team of Dave Duncanson, Salvador, Karalun and Young where they fired a 129 (-15). On the CP game the winners Kelly Bock, Mag, Karalun and Forbes. Special recognition goes to Scott, who scorched the front nine from the white tees with a gross score of 32, including an eagle on no. 5. Well done! On Aug. 8, we had our skins game where G Hardy took honors in the A Flight with three skins while Hamerla led the way with two skins in the B Flight. Kudos to Jesse Marin for his net double-eagle skin hole no. 3, Marilyn Tolen for her net eagle skin on hole no. 5, and also to Brenda Stange for her net eagle skin on no. 17. CP winners were Sampson, Bob Umeck, G Hardy and M Hardy.
