| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2023 | 37 We were so grateful to have Carol Cole, speak to us. She explained and demonstrated in detail her gifts into abstract arts. Her best insights were "how to get loose" in black and white chalk and to play our favorite music as we take brush to canvas. Our August meeting also welcomed guests: Thelma, who enjoys watercolor scenes and sketches; Patricia, who also loves watercolor art, metal embossing and all types of crafts; and Lori, who wants to try acrylic art. We welcome you and hope you join! The annual Art Walk is upon us and the Art League is super excited. This year the exhibit will be held on Sat., Oct. 14 from 11 am to 2 pm in the Main Clubhouse. Everyone is welcome. Bring your friends and family. Admission is free to all and there will be door prizes too. Art Walk tables are available for artists members at $20 per table. Please call Linda Grabler at (951) 758-3142. This is a very special event for the Art League so we ask everyone to come show your support for our talented Sun Lakes artists. Art exhibits are for sale. Come see our talents, in oil paintings, water colors, acrylics, pastels, and so much more. August Mini Art Show winners are, in third place, Susan Longford with a delicate glass vase and pastel flowers. In second place, an absolutely stunning image of pink roses on porcelain. This art uses all natural minerals fired at 1200 degrees over 10 times! In first place, our very own Susan Van Loon with a precious image of her friend's grandson wearing daddy's tuxedo.
