Good Day Sun Lakers. My name is Bob with one "O." My email is
mud1pup@yahoo.com. This message is to all Veterans in Sun Lakes.
This is not just to those who served in the Air Force, Army, Coast
Guard, Marines, Navy, or National Guard, but also to the wives of our
Veterans, and especially our Gold Star Families.
I had posted a message online asking if anyone would be interested
in forming a Veterans Group and received over 25 positive responses.
Since then, I submitted a request to form a Veterans Group here at
Sun Lakes. You're reading this as my request was approved Aug. 23.
I wanted to establish this group for several reasons. One was for
the camaraderie between our brothers and sisters who served, but
most of all, for us to learn what benefits Veterans are eligible for. So
far, I have Beverly from Sun Lakes, Shari from Solera, Deborah from
CA Guard, Ed and Ron from DAV, Len from the Military Order of
the Purple Heart, and several others who have stated they'd be more
than willing to come and help us with our VA benefits, Disabilities,
Riverside National Cemetery, and any other questions we may have.
Sadly, this won't be published until the October issue, but for
those who haven't heard of my request and subsequent approval, this
edition should get to all of those who haven't heard this is happening.
Hopefully, word of mouth will reach all of those interested in
participating.
A little about myself. I served in the US Navy Submarine
Service from 69-80. I served on three nuclear-powered Fast Attack
Submarines, USS Puffer SSN652, USS Parche SSN683, and the USS
Drum SSN677. In there somewhere I spent two years shore duty at
NAS Los Alamitos. Just a footnote, Hunt for Red October is close to
reality. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing where
this takes us.
