If you are the first correct guess chosen at random, you will win a free dinner. Congratulations to this month's Dinner Winner: JEAN BOWMAN Please call Kelly in the Admin. We've been leading up to this celebration for 20 years. I've been humbled by all the kind words and accolades. It's kind of like a preview of what people might say at my funeral, which is creepy but also nice. I have to give most of the credit for 20 years of success to the community, the Boards I've worked with, and especially all the members of the Lifestyles Committees, from Marvin Haas and Julie Jeffries to today's leaders, Linda Vieira, Marcia Gold, and Robin Varner … and everyone who served in the last 20 years. There are at least 100 amazing residents with whom I've worked closely over the years and they have been nothing but supportive. Not a single jerk in the bunch, which is probably some sort of miracle. I've also been blessed to have the best writers submitting articles every month, filling up each magazine with great information. And all the photographers have put the cherry on top of each issue. The cover this month has all the magazine covers from 2003 on. My goal from day one was to feature the beauty of Sun Lakes and there has never been a lack of choices. I started the Lifestyles in 2003 after telling Board president Don Erickson that a beautiful community like Sun Lakes deserved a beautiful magazine to showcase it. He and the rest of the Board agreed and put their faith in me to accomplish it. I have tried to make every resident proud with my small contribution. The Lifestyles doesn't make Sun Lakes better — it's just a mirror that reflects how amazing this community is. I've turned down many communities that don't meet the standard that has been set by Sun Lakes. You are the gold standard. It's my honor to work with you and I look forward to celebrating again in 20 years. Last month we published the survey of those in our community who have cars shaped like food — over 50 percent of all households are proud owners of cars shaped like food. As you know, many have fruit and vegetable themed vehicles; Carmen Murr's banana car comes to mind (photo below). This month we're featuring three foods that aren't in that ever-popular food group. If you have a car that is shaped like food, or are in the market for a car shaped like food, please join us every Monday morning at 9 am in the parking lot for a brief meeting followed by a picnic. Our group has blossomed this summer to over 1,550 very dedicated members. We take our hobby seriously and have four parades each year. We also do two cross-country trips each year, one in the fall and one in the spring. Our motto: Who has more fun than people who drive cars shaped like food? No one! See you soon! ~ Archibald Alexander Leach (909) 797-3647 Cars Shaped Like Food Group
