The Colony Players Theater wish to thank those who attended our annual variety show for their support. The cast and crew work year round to bring our audience some fun entertainment. And we love it! We are back to work on ideas for 2024. If you would like to be part of this decision-making process either on stage or behind the scenes, would love to have you. No experience is necessary. Just give me a call at the above number. 26 | THE COLONY NEWS | NOVEMBER 2023 | Actors Studio By Marsha Tobolski, 562-244-9223 Chinese Traditional Dance By Lulu Scott, 858-442-6808 Players eater By Brenda Sindorf, 951-698-7097 Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and your families! Our group is preparing for our March 2024 show. If you would like to join in on our fun, whether as an actor or in support opportunities, please contact Greg Hill 951-526-9896 or Chuck Gordon 661-714-3847. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing new faces in our group! Did you enjoy the Chinese dance performed at this year's Colony Talent Show? The Chinese traditional dance team will be forming soon for next year. If you would be interested in joining this performing group, please meet us on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 9:30 am in the Auditorium for information. New days, same time. We meet at 10 am on the second and fourth Saturdays in the Annex for four and a half to five hours of quality sewing time, show and tell and camaraderie. Bring your own machine and notions, a current project or some handwork. (Chocolate is optional.) Finish a UFO, or start something new and work individually, at your own pace. It's time to get serious about your Christmas projects. If you have questions or a problem, bring it to the workshop. Problem-solving is a shared learning experience for everyone. We also have a supply of donated fabric you may use for charitable projects, if you choose. New quilters, if you know how to operate your machine and have basic sewing skills, you are encouraged to join us. Bring your own lunch and beverage. There is ice water in the classroom and coffee is available in the Atrium. To reserve a workspace and outlet, please RSVP to me, as we are sharing the room with the Crafters and space may be limited. And new "KJ" (Karaoke Jockey), Ann Luekens! Ann had been helping Bonnie Graham, our past KJ (who has moved) for a while, and along with taking over the reins, Ann decided to upgrade the system. Many of the karaoke regulars are familiar with the song list on Google Sheets — a mere 65,000 songs that more or less did not include ones newer than about 2015. The new system is a subscription one that updates all the time. So, if you want Luke Combs, or the latest from Taylor Swift, or if you want to "Glow-up" or "be there or be square," it has them all. Karaoke is the first and third Tuesday of the month at 6:15 pm in the Auditorium. It's free and open to everyone, including folks who just want to sit back and enjoy, have a drink, share a snack. It's BYO everything. Guests are welcome. If you want a timely reminder for each gathering, send your email to Jeri Huestis at jjhuey@aol.com. If you want to sing, send your song choices to Connie O'Brien at obriencr@verizon.net. We hope to see you soon at Karaoke.
