| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | NOVEMBER 2023 | 23 PAWS September's anniversary celebration was a lot of fun. A great big thanks to those that helped man the PAWS booth. We had a lot of fun with the poop bag toss. We raffled off two large gift baskets and a huge thank you to those that donated items. On Oct. 6, we had a demonstration from the Hemet K-9 unit. Officer Del Bono and Officer Bishop brought K-9 Argo, a Belgian Malinois to our meeting. They discussed the training that goes into one of these canines along with the handler. Argo is fluent in Czech and English. They also did an attack demonstration outside. It was amazing. (The Quilt Club even stopped quilting to come outside and watch.) Hemet has other canines trained for other things and we will definitely have them back. We were able to make a donation to the K-9 unit. Our group was formed for residents with pets. We have had speakers and demonstrations. We understand there are people who do not pick up after their pets or throw the bags in the bushes. Not good. We attempted to get pet waste stations installed but we were denied. We then attempted to do research on a possible dog park and once again we were denied. There are a lot of pet owners in Four Seasons and a lot of dogs, but not many people come to our meetings. The way to get things accomplished is to show support. We have a lot of ideas but we need commitments from the residents to accomplish things such as: a micro-chip scanner for run-away pets, a directory of pets and their owners with pictures so if your dog or cat gets loose we can assist in getting them returned to you. There is a group of technicians that will come here once or twice a month to do small routine items for a discounted rate. There are a number of people that would like to get a group together to do daily walks with our dogs. All of these things need your support. We have donated to Ramona Humane Society and would like to get a small group together to go over and volunteer. Please consider joining our club. We have meetings the first Thursday of the month at 11 am. Our dues this year were $5 for the year. In 2024, we will be raising them to $10 a year. Not a lot but it gives us some flexibility and some money to donate. TGIF/Karaoke It's almost time for turkey and lots of trimmings. Let's start the Thanksgiving holiday early with friends and giving thanks for our many blessings in life. Come to TGIF and share some wonderful food with others. Bring a dish to share with eight to 10 people. If you don't want to share you can bring your own meal. Bring your own table setting (plates, silverware and beverage of choice). We will have Karaoke and dancing. Bring a neighbor or make new friends Nov. 3 in the Ballroom.
